BOSS OF THE DOS
By W. Nulf
Once there was a girl I really loved
and the girl loved me back.
Something went wrong and then it was gone,
and my soul went slack.
Found a machine that means everything ...
gave me what I lacked.
Computer with the colored screen ...
now I'm running on track.
It don't lie and it don't cry; loyalty you
can buy.
Sits on the desk, never takes a rest, never
asks me why.
I became boss of the DOS to forget my loss,
living the programmer's dreams.
Hacking code and working hard ...
now life is simple it seems.
Girl and I played cards at night for kisses
in our happiness.
The computer and I play chess 'til light ...
I can tell you this is best.
She and I manipulated each other with
promises and hugs.
It's a better life changing bits and bytes...
watching out for bugs.
Lady and I dressed up of Friday nights...
going out "someplace".
Computer and I modem over phone lines...
enjoying virtual space.
Hard and firm, soft and share ...
let me tell you about my ware.
Technology is where I'm at ...
I don't need women there.
